Development: St. JOHNS
Location: Wood Street, Chelmsford
Project: 2, 3 & 4 Bedroom Houses
Developer: Inland Homes
Our role: Main Contractor

This landmark development on the former site of Chelmsford’s St. John’s Hospital is less than two miles from the heart of the city centre. Though heralded as the official County Town of Essex, Chelmsford is in fact the only city within the county and is home to one of South East England’s fastest growing communities. The St. John’s multi-phase development offers a fitting range of seventy-five high-specification homes, which enjoy exceptional landscaped surroundings and high attention to detail.

The St. Johns project will deliver a blend of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and will also provide an inspiring example of skilled redevelopment.

Development: CHARTERHOUSE MEWS
Location: Rainsford Road, Chelmsford
Project: 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments and 2 Bedroom Houses
Developer: Inland Homes
Our role: Main Contractor

Formerly the site of a Public House, Charterhouse Mews enjoys the best of both worlds, being located less than a mile from the tranquillity of rural farmland and from the thriving city centre of Chelmsford. This well designed development makes clever use of a compact footprint and provides for six flats and eight semi-detached houses with private gardens. All residences enjoy off-street parking and excellent access to local transport amenities. The overall scale is sensitive and in keeping with the adjacent neighbourhood.

The traditional brick and render style, complemented by up-to-the-minute designer fittings and features, is perfectly aligned to the expectations of modern day living.

Development: ALBANY ORCHARDS
Location: Woodham Walter, Maldon, Essex
Project: Private Residence
Developer: Private Client
Our role: Main Contractor

The creation of an imposing Elizabethan style country house, built using traditional new components, was always going to be a challenge. When you weigh the difficulties of finding rare, specialist artisans to produce the pegged, green oak framework, the handmade ‘Tudor’ bricks or the spectacular chimney-stack twists for example - the challenge becomes even more demanding. The specification also called for a seamless marriage between the traditional appearance of the external aspects and the modern 21st century designer interior. Albany Orchards was no ordinary project.

The outcome has been cited as a triumph of construction management and as an outstanding example of integrated building skills.

Development: BRIGADIER HOUSE
Location: The Officers Mess, The Old Garrison, Colchester
Project: Refurbished as private apartments and housing
Developer: Taylor Wimpey
Our role: Main Contractor

This stunning development gave a new lease of life to a former Officers Mess, originally built in 1904 on the historic Military Garrison site at Colchester in Essex. The external period features were carefully cleaned, conserved and restored to their former Edwardian glory while the internal aspects were upgraded to fully meet the needs and tastes of contemporary living. The final development provided nineteen houses and apartments, all of which sold quickly, confirming the wisdom and determination to pursue particularly high project standards.

Having successfully delivered the project we were offered further work involving a similar, slightly earlier building on the same site.

Development: WEST STATION BUSINESS PARK
Location: Maldon, Essex
Project: Construct Business Units
Developer: Robert E. Lee
Our role: Main Contractor

Located at the edge of the historic Essex town of Maldon, West Station Business Park is ideally sited for convenient road links without compromising the sensitive traffic flow of the ancient township. Comprising of eight business units, the development provides a well organised and easily accessible home to both growing and established enterprises. All units are of a high standard modern style, featuring bolt-on cladding around steel frames. Internal workspaces are variable and fully served by all local utilities.

Given the narrow aspects of the site, the project required careful planning. The job was completed according to schedule with minimum disruption.
